I am a multiply disabled freelance editor with over a decade of experience in editing professional, academic, and fiction writing. I have edited novels, novellas, short stories, memoirs, research materials, essays, university and grant applications, and fanfiction. I love big, epic fantasy, dark themes, horror stories, and any and all LGBTQIA+ characters and representation. I have worked for the University of Chicago Writing Program and Publishers Weekly and received the Francis X. Kinahan Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Advanced Academic Writing. rates

Rates vary based on type of editing, length of material, and deadline. All editing with a deadline of less than two weeks will include a 20% rush surcharge.

  • Copyediting: €30/hr. Copyediting includes reading for continuity. Building a style sheet is included in this service. Bibliography copyediting is an additional flat €10/pg.

  • Manuscript Eval: €5 per 1000 words. Includes a final write-up of minimum 3000 words detailing characters, worldbuilding, major and minor plot structure, continuity, and overall clarity. This write-up will focus on what works, what doesn't work, and highlight where issues arise, and will include specific solutions for all critiques raised. If you would like further developmental editing after a manuscript eval, a flat discount is available.

  • Developmental editing (fiction), full package: 3¢ per word. Includes in-line comments throughout the draft pointing to areas where things work, areas of instability, continuity errors, etc. Also includes a final write-up with no word count limit as in other developmental editing. Itemized and specific solutions will be offered for all critiques raised. This package includes one 1-on-1 hour-long voice or video call to discuss comments free of charge.

  • Sensitivity reading: Prices upon negotiation. I can sensitivity read for traumatic brain injury (concussion, post-concussive syndrome), hyper-acute hearing, vision loss and low vision, memory loss; Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and hypermobility disorders including traumatic and non-traumatic dislocations, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and dysautonomia, chronic pain, scoliosis, neuropathy, migraines; abuse, children of divorce; rape, child-on-child sexual assault; adult poverty; post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, adhd, neurodivergence, synesthesia.

  • Academic editing: €10 per page. I can read for argument and paper cohesion in any subject and to any assignment or paper request prompt. I cannot comment on the validity of the argument, only on its accessibility to readers. This includes in-text comments in addition to a final write-up of up to 500 words discussing the text with specific solutions for every critique.

I recognize that hiring a freelance editor can be expensive, and many writers may not be able to afford to do it. I believe that all writers deserve the opportunity to work with an editor. As such, I do offer a discounted service. Afrer the author wrote this story, they edited it down to two different lengths for different open anthologies. When neither version was accepted, they worried that they may have cut more than was necessary and requested I combine the drafts to create a medium-length version for future submission.
